Dr. Festus Okubor By Victor Efeizomor As politicians strategise on how to grab power in Delta State come 2015, a political pressure group, under the aegis of Delta Oshobe 2015 Group, has thrown its weight and support behind governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s Chief of Staff, Dr. Festus Okubor, urging him to contest the governorship election in the state. The group, comprising delegates from the twenty-five local government areas of the state and numbering about 300, stormed the country home of Okubor, yesterday, at Boji Boji Owa, in Ika North East local government area, to present their request. Leader of the group, Chief Olori Magege, a chieftain of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in his presentation said the group has studied the track records of all the governorship aspirants in the state and that Okubor’s track records surpasses every other aspirant’s. He said Okubor’s pedigree as a medical doctor, former commissioner in the state loyal party man, community leader, and the current Chief of Staff to governor Uduaghan qualifies him (Okubor) to be the next governor of Delta State. Responding, Okubor thanked the delegation for their support but said he was determined to throw his hat into the ring on the condition that the group will carry their request to his principal Governor Uduaghan of their desire for him to be governor. He said he was still consulting with critical stakeholders and his family members on the way forward as he would make his position know very soon.
