Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that the Israeli aggression in Palestine is a slap on the face of the United Nations. He said that the UNO was established with a sole aim to maintain and restore world peace, adding that the world body was a toy in the hands of the so-called veto powers and thus had failed in absolute terms to fulfill this overriding objective. He said that though the UN settled the disputed issue by determining the broad contours of the proposed solution but failed to get its resolutions implemented in this regard. He said that over 100 resolutions on Palestine had been vetoed by the permanent veto members of the UN Security Council, further stating that the veto powers were responsible for disturbing balance of power in the world. Dr Qadri said that none of the countries in the comity of nations had the courage to question Israel’s naked use of force and aggression against innocent civilians. He said that it was an uneven clash wherein on the one side were stones and on the other were missiles, tanks and heavy artillery, which were mercilessly used against stone-throwing civilians. He said that 180 people had lost their lives and hundreds more had been injured as a result of the Israeli aggression. He said that properties worth millions of dollars had been destroyed by the indiscriminate shelling of the Israeli forces. Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri demanded the deployment of international peace-keeping forces on the Israel-Palestine border and asked the UN to play its role in getting hostilities to stop. He said that Palestinian issue was not an issue of the Muslims or non-Muslims, adding that it was humanitarian issue involving human rights of the innocent children and women. He said that we should stand up for the cause of Palestinians and knock on the doors of the UN urging it to play its role in accordance with its mandate. for more info visit: minhaj.org/english/tid/28533/
