Check updates here--> Womens Advocacy: A CSPP La Campus Affiliate of Now About Dr. Wenli: Wenli Jen, Ed.D. is an educational consultant, professor, motivational speaker, writer, nonprofit program director and community leader working to improve professional development and learning in educational, community and business industries. Specific consulting services include business etiquette training, college and career counseling, and professional development, management and leadership training. Dr. Jen teaches business ethics, leadership and management as a professor at CIAM, an accelerated MBA program in Southern California. She also teaches public health at California State University, Dominguez Hills. Dr. Jen speaks at various events and international, national and state conferences. She has also been invited to numerous colleges and universities to speak about cultural competency, effective partnerships/community collaboration, leadership, self-esteem, women and girls’ empowerment and other topics. She had been invited to be a TED speaker and have spoken on “Repurposing Negativity” at the November 2013 TEDxPCC event and “Dare to Be My Age” at the April 2014 TEDxYouth@CityofIndustry event. She is also a contributing writer to the Asian American anthologies, Pho for Life and Miso for Life. As a prevention program director for Pacific Clinics-Asian Pacific Family Center, Dr. Jen works collaboratively with the behavioral healthcare agency and its constituents in the San Gabriel Valley. Asian Pacific Family Center prevention programs include AAFEN, ACTION and SCALE programs, specifically family support/child abuse prevention, substance abuse prevention and gang prevention, respectively. Dr. Jen is an active member of various professional organizations and sits on various steering committees, councils and boards relating to education, health, media and the arts, including but not limited to: Los Angeles County Adolescent Health Collaborative, PBS So-Cal, the Harvard Graduate School of Education Alumni Ambassadors, Harvard Asian American Alumni Alliance, Rosemead Educational Foundation, National Women’s Political Caucus and UN Women – US National Committee Greater Los Angeles. Currently, she works with the United Nations Global Compact women’s empowerment and is a current member of the National Business Education Association. She also serves as a consulting producer and co-host on two shows for a local Time Warner Cable channel. Dr. Jen is the recipient of the 2012 Woman of the Year for the 24th Senate District of California and the recipient of the 2013 Woman of the Year for the 49th Assembly District of California. She is also the recipient of the 2014 Distinguished Alumni in Community Service from her alma mater. In August 2014, she was crowned Ms. California, Woman of Achievement and advanced to the National Competition in November 2014, where she will compete for Ms. United States, Woman of Achievement. She recently established the Dr. Wenli Jen Scholarship as the first donor to the School of Education at UC Irvine for undergraduate students majoring in Educational Studies. She has continued to make an impact in education through her various involvements in the community. Dr. Jen earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Irvine with a major in Social Science, specializing in Public and Community Service. She continued with professional goals with her undergraduate minor in education to obtain her teaching and administrative credentials also from UC Irvine. A graduate of Harvard University Graduate School of Education in the Human Development & Psychology master’s program, Dr. Jen also holds a doctoral degree from the University of Southern California in Educational Leadership and Educational Psychology.
