Draft email for those who want to email Sen. Sessions office and urge him to pass 1000 additional visas for our Afghan allies. Email his press secretary at: [email protected] Dear Jack, I hope this finds you well and hopefully moving towards a final recess. Im YOUR INFO HERE. I know Senator Sessions is playing an instrumental role in the vote that is going on as we type regarding the extension of 1000 additional Special Immigrant Visas for Afghan translators. I ask that you urge him to allow the bill to come to the floor and to vote in support of it. Afghan translators have played vital roles for our military at war and in some cases have even saved American lives. Former US Ambassador Crocker recently wrote in the Washington Post of the urgent need for these visas as the State Department ran out of visas in Afghanistan. On Wednesday, the House passed HR 5195 under unanimous consent and suspension to the rule -- creating an additional 1000 visas for our Afghan allies. Thats a miracle in this Congress. I would hate for the Senate to let this bill die after the herculean effort to get it passed in the House. The issue of Afghan SIVs is completely unique and separate from other countriess as it concerns the only country in which the US is currently waging war. Your boss has said time and time again that he supports liberating the people of Afghanistan from the Taliban, but now hes going to put a hold on those who gave the most to the US mission? Moreover, we still have a number of troops in Afghanistan who will continue to need the help of interpreters. Without any possibility of safety it will be difficult to recruit any more help from our Afghan allies. This is a national security issue of the highest priority. The Taliban are hunting our allies. We promised wed take care of them if this happens. Our credibility is at stake. Again, Id ask that you urge your boss to allow the bill to come to the floor and to vote in support of it. -Sincerely, YOUR NAME
