Duality is the first story of the Bible. Adam and Eve were the first naïve characters. They knew nothing about evil. They were the first “teaching points” in our own religion. They took everything at “face value.” They did not realize that evil, disguised as a serpent, tempted them, fooled them, into believing that evil was good. The name, Lucifer, means “bringer of light.” Yet, he is also called, “The Prince of Darkness.” How could good and evil be so closely related and still be so fundamentally different? The whole myth is a paradox. And this paradox expresses the nature of the term, duality.
