Due to the federal government’s shutdown Oct. 1, Cullman City - TopicsExpress

Due to the federal government’s shutdown Oct. 1, Cullman City Head Start has definitely felt the crunch, as it is operated through a federal grant from the Office of Health and Human Services. This program serves the neediest families in Cullman. Because of this shutdown, there is no funding for the program. For this reason alone, Cullman City Head Start will have to close its doors until funding resumes from the federal government. The last day of this program will be Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013. Until that time, Head Start is asking for readers to send in donations to help keep doors open. It takes $32 a day for a student to attend Head Start, where they also are served breakfast and lunch. It is hoped to keep it open until October 22, 2013. Those who’d like to sponsor a child, please send your check, made out to Cullman City Schools with “Head Start” in the memo line, to Cullman City Head Start, 900 Hoehn Drive, Cullman, AL 35055. All donations are tax deductible, a letter will be sent verifying your donation.
