Due to the massive growth of Operation: Akumajo, we have decided that an FAQ section is needed to compliment our existing Mission Statement. The following is a work in progress. If you see any frequent or important questions that are not addressed by this list, please add them below so that we can begin finalizing this important document. ----------------------------------- Frequently Asked Questions Q: What is Operation: Akumajo? A: Operation: Akumajo is a fan protest against Konami’s policy to retire the Akumajo Dracula video game series. For more information, please click the following link to read our current Mission Statement. *link not ready* Q: What is Akumajo Dracula? A: Akumajo Dracula is the original Japanese Castlevania. The Japanese term “Akumajo” means “Demon Castle” in English. Therefore the name was changed by Konami of America to avoid offending religious groups, and also to comply with Nintendo of America’s family friendly software policies during the 1980s. Q: What’s the difference between Castlevania and Akumajo Dracula? A: Akumajo Dracula was the first of 3 distinct Castlevania Universes. All Akumajo Dracula games are considered a part of this Castlevania Multiverse, but not all Castlevania games are considered a part of the Akumajo Dracula Universe. Q: What is the Castlevania Multiverse? A: The Castlevania Multiverse is composed of 3 distinct Castlevania Universes. These include Akumajo Dracula, Kid Dracula, and Lords of Shadow. Akumajo Dracula is the original Japanese Castlevania, Kid Dracula is a cutesy Akumajo parody, and Lords of Shadow is a distinctly western Castlevania. A: No. The Multiversal Philosophy was originally introduced by the Lords of Shadow producer Dave Cox. This provided the clean break he needed to set Lords of Shadow apart from the older Japanese Castlevanias. Q: Is Operation: Akumajo anti Lords of Shadow? A: No. But Akumajo Dracula’s retirement is completely unacceptable to us. Therefore we openly reject Konami’s policy to market Lords of Shadow as a Castlevania reboot. At Operation: Akumajo, we believe the Multiversal Philosophy should be applied to actual game development and production. There is no need to retire Akumajo Dracula. We believe both Lords of Shadow and Akumajo Dracula can peacefully coexist side by side as 2 separate IPs. Q: Is Operation: Akumajo anti 3D? A: No. But we do believe 2D action-platforming is superior to 3D hack-n-slash. Q: Is Operation: Akumajo pro IGA? A: Yes and No. Although we admire and respect Koji Igarashi’s massive contributions to Akumajo Dracula, we also acknowledge his shortcomings as a modern video game producer. We are particularly concerned about 2D Castlevania’s limited budgets and technological stagnation impacting the overall quality of his work.
