Due to the moisture, the risk of scab in winter wheat is expected - TopicsExpress

Due to the moisture, the risk of scab in winter wheat is expected to rise. Wireworms have also shown up in corn. WinField regional agronomist Jason Hanson says disease and pest problems are becoming more apparent. “We need Mother Nature to turn off the tap, turn up the heat and we could recover a little bit.” Many crops have taken on a yellow color. Hanson encourages growers to get out into those fields. “Check what your soils are like down below. How saturated are things? Do tissue sampling from a nutrition standpoint. Zinc, sulphur, nitrogen and chloride are things that could cause yellowing, but most of it is due to our wet, persistent weather pattern right now.”
