Due to the recent outbreak of Pertussis (Whooping Cough) in Traverse City, we are asking everyone to be extra cautious. The Health Department has recommended that anyone with the following symptoms to stay out of public gatherings and group settings: Low-grade fever, runny nose, and coughing. Having these symptoms does not necessarily mean you have the disease, but we are trying to be cautious not only for our young ones, but also for our elderly. If you have any questions, please contact us . The Health Department has also encouraged posting the following: Members of the community can also help protect themselves and prevent the spread of whooping cough (and other illnesses) by taking the following precautions: Washing hands frequently and thoroughly Covering nose/mouth when coughing Staying home from work and school when sick, even if just a cough Contacting their health care provider if they have a prolonged or severe cough Getting up-to-date on their vaccinations.
