Duke lived with the same extended family that he was born into for all 4-years of his life. Suddenly, out of the blue, someone decided that they were allergic to Duke and that he needed to go. Duke is shattered, just like a child who wakes up screaming from a nightmare. Duke has always been very protective of his owners, feeling that was his job. Duke is a 67-pound German Shepherd. He is said to be a hearty player and a cuddling mush who loves to snuggle beside his humans. Being separated from his family is even harder for Duke than it is for the average dog. He tends to tense up and growl when a stranger enters his closely knit family group. Duke also growled at the notorious plastic hand so that promptly put him on the New Hope Only list. Duke is a very loving dog who is highly intelligent and loyal. He simply needs to decompress and to establish loyalties to his new family.
