More >> WASKOM, TX (KSLA) - A Shreveport Fire Department K9 Search and Rescue Unit has joined the search in Harrison County for a DeBerry woman reported missing since Friday. Family members say 19-year-old Alicia Benefield was last seen with her ex-boyfriend at his house on Old Town Road in Elysian Fields around 3:30 a.m. Friday. Her car was found about 4 hours later in the parking lot DeBerry Baptist Church. The window was down, and her purse and her phone were there, but her keys were not, says Benefields mother, Tomekia Hudson. Thats when she was reported missing to the Harrison County Sheriffs Office. Investigators were called to the Food Mart/Burger King off I-20 in Waskom Sunday morning, after family members say they found the former boyfriends soaked and muddied hoodie in the dumpster with Benefields keys in the pocket. Lt. Alfred Duncan confirms the former boyfriends vehicle was found left on the side of I20 nearby. He reportedly told them he left it there after it got stuck in the mud. Lt. Duncan says foul play is suspected, and they are interviewing persons of interest in the case. Because he has not been arrested or named as a suspect, police are not confirming the boyfriends name. Family members say they were told by police that the boyfriend told them he left the car there and headed to the Food Mart, believing someone was following him. Family members say it was that information that what led them to the Food Mart, where they were told the boyfriend showed up and removed his hoodie. Thats when they say they searched the dumpster and found the hoodie with the keys in the pocket. Now, a search is under way in the area. According to Lt. Duncan, the K9 tracking and K9 dogs were requested from Shreveport so that the area could be searched for any sign of Benefield, and they are asking that anyone with information on her whereabouts contact the Harrison County Sheriffs Department at (903) 923-4000 or Harrison County Crime Stoppers at (903) 925-9969. If anybody has any information or knows where she is we just want you to contact us because we are very concerned, said Hudson. Benefield is described as petite in size, weighing about 110 pounds with a nose piercing and a Wanda Ree tattoo on her left arm. She was last seen wearing brown tights with a white sweater. Authorities havent confirmed if Benefields ex-boyfriend is a suspect in her disappearance. If hes done something to my child he needs to let us know. He needs to come clean and let us know. I just want to know where my baby is, Hudson says. Copyright 2014 KSLA. All rights reserved.
