Duncairn Dam to maintain discharge level through the night The City of Swift Current received notice from the Water Security Agency this evening that water volumes being released from the Duncairn Dam Reservoir will be maintained throughout the night. “A flow rate of 1,750 cubic feet per second (cfs) was established last night at 5:00 PM, and will continue at that level at least until tomorrow morning,” said SCFD Fire Chief Denis Pilon. “An ice jam observed above the City Reservoir today released a surge of water over the weir and resulted in an artificial peak of water through the City this evening. The artificial peak has now passed, and water levels have since dropped.” The City will continue to monitor water levels throughout the night, and at this time we would like to remind the public to put safety first by keeping away from the creek. Residents are reminded that sandbags and sand are available free of charge at the City Service Center, located at 2074 South Service Road West.
