Durango Hills Relief Sewer Project To Begin Jan. 20 Work Will Be On Cheyenne Avenue From Durango Drive To East Of Cimarron Road The city of Las Vegas will begin a sanitary sewer pipe installation project on Durango Drive/Rampart Boulevard and Cheyenne Avenue Jan. 20. The project to install 1.1 miles of new 30-inch and 36-inch sewer pipe extends from south of the Rampart Boulevard/Cheyenne Avenue intersection north to the Durango Hills Water Resource Center at 3271 N. Durango Drive and eastward along Cheyenne past Cimarron Road. The project is expected to take about 11 months to complete, requiring lane restrictions on Rampart/Durango and Cheyenne. Potholing to investigate utility locations along Cheyenne east of Rampart/Durango will be done during the first two weeks, with work hours to be 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tunneling work in the Durango/Cheyenne intersection is expected to begin in March. Two lanes of travel in each direction will be maintained in both directions on Rampart/Durango and Cheyenne whenever possible. Message boards will be posted in the work area, warning of the coming work zone. Lake Mead Boulevard is recommended as an alternate route for east/west travel and Buffalo Drive is suggested as an alternate route for north/south motorists. Contri Construction is the contracted construction company. HDR, Inc. is managing the project. The project’s estimated total cost is $11 million, provided by the city of Las Vegas Sanitation Fund.
