During Day 8 at the fair I think I met my future wife… Just - TopicsExpress

During Day 8 at the fair I think I met my future wife… Just before Margaret and Ron escaped from the stand, a woman in her mid-forties who is a regular customer asked me if I was married. “Nope,” I told her. “Are you dating anyone?” she asked. “No I’m not,” I replied, beginning to grow a little nervous. “Want to date a cougar?!” she asked. “Well…” I floundered. “Maybe next year.” “You’re alright!” she chortled “I’m just messin’ with you.” An hour later, she came back for a footlong, asking if I’d found a wife yet. “Not yet,” I told her. She informed me she’d just seen a girl looking for a husband. I laughed and handed over the footlong. She headed off around the corner of the building. But thirty seconds later, she was back accompanied by a woman in a middle ages era dress. Around the woman’s neck was a sign, “Looking for Husband.” The older woman said, “Here she is!” and turned and walked away, leaving me to make polite conversation with the husband-seeking wench. (Don’t worry, such titles are appropriate at the Renaissance booth where she was from.) We talked for a few moments and she promised to come back, which seems like a good sign, but then she flipped her sign over to display her true feelings: “NOT YOU.” Too bad. Stephanie Hayes and Allison Brown came by to say hello and talk about the variety of fair food fare they had had. Kenny and Caedron loitered around the stand for a long while and left some garbage on a table, but I think the fact that they delivered some warm Sweet Martha’s cookies covers over many sins. Jenna McClay Serena Edinger, Kate Panning, and Kathryn Celiberti swooped in and chatted for a while as did Thomas Pedro, Scott Darling, Eric Bjorklund and Seth Rima. Kate and I grabbed a Deep Fried Monte Cristo Sandwich, which was quite enjoyable. And I also had a freshly made pretzel: delicious. Rima and I perfectly guessed how many hotdogs we had to sell, walking away from the stand less than 15 minutes after our last sale and arriving home before 1 a.m. – a record. Of course, the weekend is coming and it will only get later from here on out.
