During Saturdays International Coastal Cleanup, our friends at the Tampa Bay Green Consortium were diving to cleanup marine debris when several divers found a dead green sea turtle floating just south of the Ballast Point Pier, its left fin shredded and its body slightly bloated. The turtle had likely been dead a day or two, and cause of death was unknown at the time. Were so thankful for TBGC and other groups who help clean up our waterways. Hundreds of thousands of sea turtles, whales and other marine animals, along with more than 1 million seabirds, die each year from pollution, ingestion of debris or entanglement in castoffs. This little green might be one of them. We will most an update when we know necropsy results. tampabay/news/environment/water/volunteers-clean-up-debris-along-coast/2198669
