During World War II, 12,000 Palestinians enlisted in the British - TopicsExpress

During World War II, 12,000 Palestinians enlisted in the British Army to help fight the Nazis. Palestine, a country of only two million people, accepted more Jewish refugees than any other country in the world. What did the British think about Palestinians ? In 1939 Palestinians protested against Jewish colonization. The eruption of popular anger was crushed by 25,000 British troops and Zionist auxiliaries backed by the bomber squadrons of the Royal Air Force. The counter-insurgency mounted by the British Empire was the largest of its kind. At the height of the colonial offensive against the Palestinians, Winston Churchill justified the action against the Palestinians on grounds of the racial superiority of the Jews. The same Winston Churchill that back in 1925, while he was minister of defense gave the British Air Force the go ahead to drop bombs loaded with toxic gas over the Kurdish town of Sulaimaniya, in Iraq. It was the first time in history that these type of bombs were dropped from aircraft over civilians. The info. is from the book ( Fateful Triangle by Noam Chomsky page 558. )
