During a recent field trip last week, Ambassador Kirsten Geelan visited communities in Arghakhachi district to learn more about the activities of the Community Awareness Center supported by Local Governance and Community Development Programme which is funded by Denmark. She also visited a few Village Development Committees in the district and interacted with local VDC-representatives. The Local Governance and Community Development Programme aims at meeting the growing expectations of people to access efficient and effective service delivery from the state apparatus and to engage in a meaningful way in local governance processes. With the programme political reform at local level is approached by building village and municipal institutions, reaching out to citizens of all income levels – with special attention to disadvantaged and underprivileged groups – to participate and express their needs.
