During intermission at the Pinocchio play yday, Yakee got to interacting with the boy just behind us, exchanging names and ages. They both even introduced their moms to each other. When Yakee was asked where he goes to school (the other kid goes to OB Montessori), he answered he didnt go to a school because his home is his school. The other boy couldnt grasp the idea and kept asking him why he wasnt going to a school. Yakee patiently told the boy he was homeschooled, another time, that his Mommy teaches him all the things he needs to know. He even went on to say Mommy just bought more books for him and he has so many things that help him learn at home. That woke me up enough from my drug-induced sleepiness to feel validated that in the great scheme of things, my officially homeschooled child can handle himself very well socially. And in his mind, he knows there is a difference BUT sees no issue that he is being educated this way.
