During the 1980s, I read a Fundamentalist news magazine called The Sword of The Lord. It was an Independent Baptist Publication. It had Sermons and articles from both contemporary and historical preachers, current events, editorial, and other human interest stories. What is notable is that most of the focus was on what was wrong with everyone that is not in our camp. I spent over 25 years in IFB Churches. As a military man, I was a member in several and visited others. In degrees, the mindset was always militant, dogmatic, legalistic with an attitude that we know all that there is to know about God. Despite two thousand years of separation from the first century church, autographa, language, culture, customs the attitude is we could not have misinterpreted the scriptures. When not attacking liberals, democrats, catholics, other denominations, there was always petty in-fighting. Hence, this article rings loudly with me.
