During the past few years, average incomes for many have been increasing between 1.5%-2.5% a year. Yet, these service industries have been increasing their prices regularly by about 5%-10% a year increasing the gap between earnings and prices. I loathe BT anyway, and quite frankly, if their customers have any sense, they would abandon BT in droves due to their massive profiteering. The cost of living within the digital age should be coming down in real terms as in theory it becomes cheaper due to the ever expanding network. But, the bosses and shareholders demand even bigger returns on their investments, whilst everyone else has to take in real terms, pay cuts. This is unacceptable in this day and age. But there again, the money people always win in a democracy.
