During the summer we were asked about memorial donations to the band. We found out that it is tax deductible. There are two ways you may go about it. You may ask the city for a receipt for your records or you may write a check for any amount you like. If it is under $250.00 your check is your receipt. Make your checks payable to: City of Caldwell Centennial Band and you should be well covered. You are still OK if you have written a check to just the Caldwell Centennial Band. The key is that you write a check and put on the check that it is a memorial or cash donation. As long as the amount is less than $250 you will be OK. If you donate more than $250 you should go to the City of Caldwell and get a receipt. This is what I have gotten from the city as well as a CPA.
