This is not the movies, this is not something that only happens in large citys, this is YOUR quiet little town, this is the corner store or gas station you go to every day for that cup of coffee, these are YOUR officers that gave an oath to put themselves in a position to give there own life to protect yours and your families. They are the reason nothing ever happens in our little town. As much as our amazing troops go off to far away lands to protect our country from real and imminent danger, these officers are doing the very same at home and there is no peace time no cease fire or peace treaty that has ever been signed by the criminals in this country to put their minds at ease for any length of time. So step down off of your pedestals and soapboxes for a minute and consider the true repercussions of your words, and protests as you continue to crucify the majority for the negative actions of a few. When the day comes that YOU are dialing 911 because there is a suspicious person near your home, your childs school or just walking up and down the street in your little town and you are put on hold because there is a 20 minute questionnaire that has to be completed over the phone before they can even dispatch and officer and when they do finally arrive they cant take any action unless they actually observe that person committing an act of crime at that time and oh yeah... because of new regulations they also have to confirm that all vehicle and uniform mounted cameras are operational and recording and then they must move slowly as they are required to narrate every step in a clear and friendly tone as they politely ask the suspect, please kind sir or madam, could you refrain from your current actions? and if they are not in the act of a crime then the officers can only observe for 5 min before they are required to leave (any longer would be classified as profiling or harassment). Still feeling safe? Keep taking your safety for granted, keep judging and condemning ALL law enforcement for doing a job that you yourself would never even consider taking on! Go ahead, thats your right (ironically enough). But be prepared to stand by those words when you turn on the evening news and there is that suspicious person you called about on a surveillance video from the store near your house where the Manager, cashier and 10 other innocent men women and children were fatally wounded and the headline reads Suspect still at large. On behalf of myself and my loved ones I would like to say thank you to all of the officers for all of POSITIVE things you do EVERY day to keep us safe and i encourage, better yet I Challenge everyone that feels the same to start a Positive movement.. Lets see social media get overrun with all of the positive comments, stories and pictures that are normally overlooked. When you see an officer on the street, shake their hand, give them a wave and thank them for THEIR service! People want change, then take the initiative, give them the respect they deserve and see it returned! Thank You!
