Dwell in the High Places Read Isaiah 57:15 There are moments in life that make you question why you were given one, a life, that is. Some of my favorite lyrics by John Mellencamp go like this, “Oh yeah, life goes on, long after the thrill of living is gone.” These lyrics say to me, “It’s okay to feel the way we do. We all feel down sometimes, but yes, life will go on. You’ll be okay.” In Isaiah 57 God is saying that even though He dwells in Heaven and is in a high place, He also dwells with us on Earth. A lot of people think that being a Christian means you aren’t supposed to be sad or depressed or of a spirit that is not joyful, but the older I get, the more I realize that this is a lie. We all have times when our heads hang low and we don’t know what to do next. God loves us so much. I think about a parent-child relationship where the kid is going through something awful and the parent just wants to trade places with them. This is our God. Sure, He is Holy. He is even mighty, but you know why I love Him? He cares about ME. This verse is more than words from a book to me. It is God in the flesh holding my hand. By --Courtney Loveless, FHU Graduate
