EASTER! Beautiful day, happy guests and cute kids! Seester - TopicsExpress

EASTER! Beautiful day, happy guests and cute kids! Seester reminded me of a couple of our own traditions growing up! For Easter we each got a frilly new dress and patent leather shoes from the Smith Shoe Store in Tucker. They were always Red Goose Shoes, and they came with a Golden Egg! It was designed to be a Piggy Bank, but upon receipt it contained stickers, candy a Cracker Jack like prize and a big flurry from the store owner! We would wear these new treasures to Liberty Methodist Church. This is a tiny little white church in rural GA. My parents were married there in 1955 and Mark and I married there in 1994. On Easter they held dinner on the grounds and an Easter egg hunt to beat all Easter egg hunts! I recall the youth of the church being dismissed a bit early in order to hide the eggs in the field to the side of the church. There were Prize Eggs that were usually real boiled and decorated eggs. There was also a prize for the most eggs found in each age category. I got one or the other EVERY year, if not both!....Except for once.....Not that I am competitive, mind you! I was devastated! Inconsolable!....a brat. Needless to say Miss Irene Gentry had an extra chocolate bunny prize for me in case of such an emergency. After all, she was family! In 2005, I think, I got to see my own kids participate in this Liberty tradition! Cole was 8 and on his own, while Woody, almost 4 followed his beautiful and kind cousin around as she pointed out eggs. I think he enjoyed the company and attention from Kaitlin Dupuy more than the winning or losing. Whatever your traditions, HAPPY EASTER!
