EASTERN FOOTBALLER CLUB NOTES, 6th September 2014 Last weekend was a good one for the Ringwood Redbacks with the Reserves progressing to the Prelim Final, the U19s winning their way through to the Grand Final and our EFL Netball Team winning their final. On Saturday the Reserves played Templestowe and were locked in a tight battle all day with goals hard to come by. We held a narrow lead at the long break and maintained our 2 goal buffer for the majority of the last half and with strong determined play held the opposition at bay to record back to back final victories. They will play Wantirna South this Sunday – be there On Sunday the U19s played Boronia and lead all day in a game played in blustery conditions, which saw us hold a slender one point lead at half time. We managed to extend our lead during the third quarter and entered the last quarter with a three goal lead. We finally managed to get our running game going in the early part of the last quarter and with the first two goals of the quarter held a comfortable lead which proved to be the match winning period. The boys now have a week to freshen up and prepare thoroughly for their tilt at back to back flags. Last Friday night our EFL Netball team played Mitcham and won their cut throat final and progressed through to the semi-final vs Croydon this Friday. Victory will see them into the grand final. If they continue their late season form which has been outstanding they have a big chance to go all the way. Presentation night is being held on Friday 26 September at the CoachnHorses commencing at 7.00pm. Tickets are $40.00 per person with drinks at bar prices so please book your ticket ASAP to ensure your attendance to what will be a good night to end the year. Good luck to the Reserves and Netball girls for their big matches this weekend and let’s hope we can celebrate with three teams through to their grand finals.
