EASY WAY TO UNDERSTAND BC AND AD YEARS Our current calendar uses the birth, life, and death of (or what is thought to be the birth, life and death) of Jesus. Today, we are counting time forward, after the the birth of Jesus. BC stands for Before Christ, and AD stands for Year of our Lord in Latin. This calendar was created after Jesus, so from his birth forward is ad, counting forward. From his death backwards, counting down to the event, goes backwards. So like, imagine the countdown to a race. Before the race is... 3.. 2.. 1.. Go! After the start of the race, the clock moves forward measuring how long it takes the participants. BC is like the count down, Jesus is like the Go! And the way our calendar is counted now with AD is the clock moving forward measuing how long it takes the participant to complete the race (but we arent racing, and instead measuring how much time passes, in general) hope this helped you it did for me — feeling accomplished.
