EDGAR LUNGU TIMELINE 1956 - Edgar Lungu is born on the Copperbelt. He later went to school at Mukuba Secondary School. 1981 (October 17) - Edgar graduated from UNZA School of Law. He later worked as a lawyer for entities like ZCCM and Barclays Bank. 1983 - Edgar Lungu got his law practice certificate after graduating from ZIALE. He went on to practice law at Andrew Masiye and Associates. 2001 - Edgar joins politics as a member of the UPND under the leadership of Anderson Kambila Mazoka. He later joined the PF led by Michael Chilufya Sata. 2006 - Lost the Chawama Constituency Seat to MMDs Geoffrey Samukanga. 2011 - He won the election and became Chawama MP. 2011 - He was appointed Deputy Minister in the Office of the Vice-President. 2012 - Elevated as full cabinet minister when Sata appointed him Minister of Home Affairs 2013 - He was moved to a more senior cabinet position when he was appointed Minister of Defence following the resignation of GBM. 2014 - He got more portfolios apart from Minister of Defence when he was appointed Minister of Justice as well as the Patriotic Front Secretary General following the firing of Wynter Kabimba from government. He was also the chairperson of the PFs disciplinary committee. 2015 - He beat HH in a close battle to be elected the 6th President of the Republic of Zambia.
