EIRS Loses Perm Sec BENIN CITY- The Permanent Secretary of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), Elder (Deacon) Sunny Okundia is dead. He died on Tuesday October 1, 2013 during a brief illness. Earlier on Monday the deceased was said to have resumed office hale until midday when he complained of a slight headache. Reacting to the death, the Executive Chairman, EIRS, Chief (Sir) Oseni Elamah, described the late Elder Okundia’s death as sad and shock. The Executive Chairman who led other management staff of the agency on a condolence visit to the deceased family yesterday in Benin City, described the late Elder Okundia as a symbol of virtue whose professional contribution towards the revenue generation which brings about development achievement in the state cannot be overemphasized. It is very rare to have professionals like him (late Okundia) in the civil service today he said. He added, we are here to assure you that in giving thanks to God for the life a our brother, Sunny Okundia, whatever is due to the family will be given to them, the EIRS boss assured. He prayed God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss. Responding on behalf of the mother, Mrs. Esther Sunny Okundia for the family, Miss Emilola Okundia, thanked the Executive Chairman, and his entourage for the visit. “We really appreciate you for the concern you have shown both in text messages and calls, stated Emilola.
