EKSU! EKSU!! EKSUITES!!! Waking from the slumber of interregnum, Eksu su a new born baby was conceived and brought to life. For those that understands politics and knows the nitty-gritty and the background of events that rocked Ekiti state Government transition process will agree with me that the birth of the new child in every sense was necessitated and facilitated because of some parochial interests that are outrightly political. If truly the immediate past Govt loves the students, why did they proscribe our Union three years ago and restored it back when they felt they needed our support at a very late hour, When so many things have gone wrong in the University community, before and during the foetus formation so many sources of income to the purse of the elder sibling of the foetus (Unadsu) that was killed abruptly barely three years ago has been hijacked by the management, countless anti-students policies and decisions have been made. And as fate and sheer providence will have it i was made the servant victim to steer the canoe of this newly planned machinated-baby. Though it is a clarion call to service but in the midst of so many obstacles and intricacies. Immediately we resumed office, we started with ZERO finance, as we sailed laboriously and painfully due to the paucity of funds to nurse the helpless baby that needed so many facilities to have an healthy life and to escaped been under-nourished. Since we the guardians are poor we decided to solicit funds from the populace that will benefit from the baby. As at now less than 16 per cent of the entire Eksu students payed the due to nurture the baby, so funny among those that didnt pay the due make the loudest noise and rant complains on facebook and other social media. Now, how will a Union survive without efficient funding. I have served Ekusites, and i want to reiterate that i never stole a penny from the Unions coffer, i served without any call card allowance, without any security votes, without any expedient allowance or any other allowance as stipulated and enshrined in the Unadsu Constitution. Rumours are on the air that i collected a huge amount of money from Gov Kayode Fayemi. I am stating it here categorically that despite the fact that i supported him during the election, it was born out of passions for his strides and party. I never collect any money from the immediate past state Government and its political party (APC). Or let any of them come and tell it to my face if i collected the rumoured millions that went on air by the scalywards. It got to a stage, those people working under my purview retreated, i cant blame them they were only hearing Millions of naira with their ears they never felt a note on their palm. If you are privy to any information as per financial misconduct you are free to come with your genuine evidence. I received Jabs from groups that contested against me, my senators, my executives even the entire students when the rumour spread like a whirlwind that i have used the position to amass wealth; whereas i was only suffering and smiling. Many concluded i was stingy, many senior comrades hated me with passion for the thought of not distributing the national cake to their doors. Some claim i am too docile for their liking, if i caused any upheaval or hugger-mugger that resulted in a strike or hullabaloo, these same set of people will complain that i delayed their academic calendar due to my incompetence to manage situations amicably. Great Eksuites, i have learnt a lot, thanks for giving me the opportunity, i could recall a day an Okada rider collided with our student, before my arrival to the scene many bikes have been seized by the students claiming they want to burn them. They expected me to declare war on Okada riders but to their total dismay i declared PEACE because its what i believe to be the most essential for my people. I ensured the girl was taken care of and i immediately directed the bike riders to comply with an orderly way of turn by turn. The next complains by some fellows were that our baby President is at it again. Though it is not new. Moses was criticised, even our glorified Senior comrade that we now celebrate and see as a model was villified, victimised and called all sort of names during his regime. Your criticism is just making us stronger. With the goodluck that followed our name, we were able to acquire 2 brand new 18 seater Toyota buses and an equipped ultra-modern Students Center. Our administration in partnership with Wema bank powered a Students Union Week that brougth May D, lace, and Q dot to our campus, please kindly remember the Marathon (first of its kind in Eksu), interfaculty football competition, and the Rap king competition. Our Welfare services to the entire students is sky-rocketting as we are always at alert for distress calls, even at the risk of our dear lives (in times of minor or serious accidents, various criminal cases, even theft and burglary) these we did for the palpable safety and security of our students. Provision of the students Union buses for the entire use of the students. The on-going provision of students I D cards. We fought for the prompt release of the Part time students results. Purchase of secretariat equipments in the students Union building (printer, photocopy machine and other smaller office equipments.) With help of Senior Comr. Adeoye Aribasoye we facilitated the grading of Unity road by the State Government. Our administration fought for some Science students that changed to other faculties and had problem with their school fees payment for almost two sessions. We fought for one of our student that was raped by an Akoto driver and we followed it up judicially. Our administration pleaded on behalf of our victimised Comrades and they were exonerated at the University Student disciplinary committee. Through our humble cries and plea to the great ASUU members and there leadership on 23/7/2014 we averted the proposed Internal Asuu strike that would have disrupted our second semester exam. The seminar by Rise Group for students on 26/4/2014 Nigeria beyond Oil where three students went home with three laptops and modems was also to our credit. Students who misplaced Gst fees were reimbursed on 30/4/14. We fought for Gst fee reduction, some students claimed the amount extracted was paltry but they have forgotten that it is now pay as you offer compared to when it was offer a Gst course and pay for all. It is true we promised Toilets and a Radio Station, but since over 80 per cent decided not to pay the due, what miracle can we perform to get them done. The State Government and political big wits that would have helped were busy with election. The school managements were battling with their own problems, it got to a stage they never had our time. Tell me an administration that achieved all the aforementioned with six months where two exams were conducted. The difference between myself and the past leaders is that i prefer using dialogue rather than protest to achieve goals and i am not used to bamboozling. I have not boasted that i have done the overall best for Eksuites but in our own capacity we have carried the cross for the subsequent regimes to be able to sail safe. I have liased with the Eksu Alumni in the United Kingom to come to our aid, soon there will be another football competition that will cut across all faculties where few young and talented players will be selected. This one i am about to state may not happen in my regime but it is set already, very soon there will be an exchange of students between Uk Universities and our institution (many thanks to Senior Comrade Sola Fayemi (Senator) that is playing a prominent and pivotal role on this. The ban will be lifted before two weeks time. In conclusion, I will place myself in the courtyard of posterity for judgement where my good or bad will continue to follow me. The decisions that I have taken is informed by the options placed before me. You may want protest but as a leader I may think protest may not be the best at that time due to informations I have that you may not have. Above all, I was guided by the illusions of my righteous struggle. I made some mistakes too which I will continue to reflect on personally but generally I have offered my best with the resources, conditions and options placed before me. I have only one regret which the wound will take time to heal, which I would have done everything to change but the power to do such is not bestowed on mortals and that is the passing to glory of our able Fin. Sec in person of Com. Small. I will submit myself therefore to God judgement or vindication. In the interim I wish to appreciate you all for your support, criticism and encouragement. God will reward us all according to our deed and intention. Thank you as you expect my valedictory speech soon. Ibitola Babatope Sugarito Eksusu President
