AT LEAST PETROLEUM IMPORT CAN BE REDUCED !!! ] KATHMANDU, AUG 15 - Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles (MREV) launched the Mahindra e2o, a zero-emission electric car , in Nepal on Wednesday. The car , introduced as an urban mobility solution, is a fully automatic car that comes with a “Boost Mode” system for rapid acceleration, said the company. It said the electric vehicle could be a solution for a sustainable “zero-emission society”. It is also expected to help reduce problems like environmental degradation, pollution-related health concerns, climate change, energy security and rising oil prices. Speaking at the launch programme, MREV Chairman Pawan Goenka said electrical vehicles have been emerging as an alternative to fossil fuel-driven vehicles. “With the Mahindra e2o, we have taken the lead not only in creating a comprehensive ecosystem to nurture sustainable mobility solutions, but have also firmly placed a choice in the hands of our customers,” he said. Among the features of the car include remote access via a smartphone application, and ability to charge through any 15A power socket available in the normal house wiring system. The company said the vehicle can be fully charged in just five hours. The car runs 100 km on a single charge. The car also features a full digital cluster, electrically operated wing mirrors, key-less entry, projector head lamps, LED tail lamps, reverse camera and four JBL speakers, among others. The Mahindra e2o is available in six attractive colours—Arctic Silver, Coral Blue, Eco Green, Oceanic White, Spanish Red and Sunfire Yellow. Cabinet Shrestha, managing director of Agni Group, authorised distributor of Mahindra vehicles for Nepal, said owners of the new electric car s could enjoy connectivity, convenience and mobility of an electric car with minimal ownership cost. The Mahindra e2o has been priced at Rs 2.25 million.
