EMAIL FROM MEMBER RE: PREGNANT & A VICTIM OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: I am currently 8 months pregnant and a victim of domestic violence. At 2 months pregnant my husband was arrested and confessed to strangling me twice within a 15 minute period. I fled the state moved back with my parents to get away from him. He followed me once he got out of jail. Has multiple warrants out for his arrest from the state this happened in. But, California will not extradite back to Utah. Im scared at this point. I have gotten a new restraining order against him. Im scared hes going to seek custody of my child. And that he will get it despite all evidence that he is extremely violent and unstable. What can I do. What can I say? They dont consider domestic violence while pregnant to be child abuse. Do I have to stand by and watch my child get hurt before the government will acknowledge hes unstable and an unfit parent? Any advice would be appreciated. Im so stressed my anxiety is so high over this.
