EMILY MATHERS (Fredrick DEEMINGS wife) - A FRIENDS DESCRIPTION A private letter received by the last English mail, by a lady resident at Petersham, says: Do you remember my speaking to you of a young girl at Rainhill, Liverpool, when you lived with us? She and I were always friends, and now the poor girl is murdered at Melbourne. If ever any man deserved hanging, Deeming does. Poor Emily was one of tho best girls I ever knew, and to think that such a cruel fate should ever overtake her. Her father was knoeked off the platform by a passing train, a few years ago, and killed, and Mrs. Mathers has had some very heavy troubles. 30th of April 1892
