EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES ADVERTISMENT Background – TANESCO tanesco.co.tz The Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) is focusing on increasing the outreach and service quality of its Energy products for Tanzanian people. Next to its current passion as a leading provider of electricity is to be more efficient customer focused utility for Tanzania and beyond. The Company has the largest electricity generation, transmission and distribution network in Tanzania. In order to reach its goals, the Company will, in the coming years invest heavily in its generation, transmission and distribution network, its business systems and human capital. TANESCO now invites internal and external applicants who are self-motivated, honest, hardworking and committed individuals to fill the under-mentioned posts at Backbone Transmission Investment Project (BTIP). Project Engineers - 7 posts POSITION OBJECTIVE The Project Engineers for the Backbone Transmission Investment Project (BTIP) are required to oversee execution of Lots 1, 2, & 3 and rural electrification works sub‐projects of BTIP during construction works of transmission lines at respective sites. The Project Engineers reports to the Project Managers and will be assisting respective Project Managers with skills related to Transmission Line and Electrification Construction works. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. To assist the project managers in organizing, controlling, monitoring and recording all activities related to construction management of the respective Lot. 2. Undertake review of technical standards and specifications for design works undertaken by EPC contractor, examine and review EPC contractor detail design and drawings of respective Lot for compliance with specifications and sound engineering practice. 3. Ensuring that environmental and social impact mitigation and monitoring measures in the Project’s Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and the environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) included in it are appropriately executed by TANESCO and EPC contractor as well as relevant community and district and local government authorities. 4. Verify accuracy of payment invoices of EPC contractor of respective Lot to ensure that payments accurately reflect the cost of the works completed or goods supplied. 5. Ensure that safety is adequately provided for and observed in the respective Lot according to TANESCO safety rules. 6. Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, biannual project progress reports for submission as appropriate to TANESCO. Also prepare Project Completion Report, which outline, inter alia, achievements in relations to objectives and targets of the substation expansion. 7. Advising Project Manager any departures from work schedules on all phases of the project during construction, commissioning, performance testing and final commercial operational acceptance including proposals for reducing any delays without compromising with cost and quality of work. 8. Assist supervision team (OISF and TANESCO) on supervising contractor’s construction activities at the site and keeping written record of construction progress, reviewing and processing site drawings when submitted by contractor and making/reviewing design changes and preparing change orders to meet changed conditions during construction proceeding for respective Lot. PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL DETAILS MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Graduate Engineers with good pass mark in BSc. in Civil (Three (3) posts) and Electrical Engineering (Four (4) posts). • Excellent communications and presentation skills. • Proven computer literacy Self-management and personal traits: • Courage and Conviction – the ability to create a sense of excitement about taking on new challenges and a belief in your capabilities to deliver results. • Relentless Preparation – preparing thoroughly for all important management decisions. • Drive for results – a deep seated inner desire to compete against standards of excellence and achieve “step changes” in business results. • Holding people accountable – the ability to give clear and unambiguous direction to individuals and teams about what they need to do in order to meet the organisations objectives. • Building capability - developing individuals and groups in order to increase the capability of the whole organisation. • Compelling Communication – recognising that clear communication is the key to understanding. • Leading Others – the ability to create a compelling vision of the future and provide inspiration, clarity and direction. REMUNERATION An attractive compensation package base on performance and consummate with the responsibility will apply to the successful candidates. All positions terms of employment are performance based fixed contract.
