ENJOY GRACE RESPONSIBLY MEMORY VERSE: what shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound, Romans 6:1. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1Kgs 10, Phil 1, Ezek 40, Ps 31 The best way to define some words are by its opposite for example, what is life? Life is the opposite of death. What is light? Light is the opposite of darkness. What is grace? Grace is the opposite of disgrace. According to Titus 2:11, salvation is the grace of God. No wonder the later part of Colossians 1:27 says that Christ in me, the hope of glory. The moment Christ comes into a life, shame and dishonour disappears. There was a school boy nicknamed indigo i.e. indiscipline by his teacher. He was so bad parents didn’t want to see him with their children. If they come in and see indigo in their living room with their children, they would literally get a gun chase him away. It was that bad. Indigo was a reproach in nutshell but the moment indigo gave his life to Christ, everything changed. Today he is a pastor, author of at least three best seller books and marriage counselor. One very important aspect of God’s grace is the forgiveness of sin. The bible says in Romans 6:23 that the wages of sin is death. For every sin we commit, there is a death penalty but because of grace we can go before God and ask him for forgiveness. 1 John 1:9 says if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. The moment Holy Spirit convicts you of any sin, go before God with a humble heart, ask Him to forgive you and He will right away. How refreshing this sounds! As believers we need to enjoy grace responsibly. Romans 6:1 says what shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? There are many who walk into sin with the intention of asking for forgiveness at the end, this is abusing the grace of God and that’s unacceptable. A child of God is expected to be as pure as light i.e. to be as perfect as God is, Matthew 5:48. If for one reason or the other, a child of God walks in the flesh and falls into sin. If he cries to God for forgiveness, God will forgive Him. But if such child knowingly goes into fornication with the intention asking God to forgive him at the end, God will not take him serious. According to 1 Corinthians 6:9, a single sin is enough to take a fellow to hell. The answer to the rhetoric question is no. We cannot continue in sin, and expect that grace should abound. NOTE: When we walk in flesh, we sin against God. Romans 8:8 says those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
