ESSENTIAL OILS AND HOW THEY CAN HELP YOU Wellness is more than being free from illness. It is a way of life that means you take charge of your health whether it be through nutrition, de-stressing, spiritual healing and growth, etc Essential oils can be a part of your holistic health. These oils are highly concentrated extracts from the aromatic parts of herbs, flowers, trees, and grasses. They have been used for thousands of years and have been shown to positively influence the mind and body. The general rule is to add them to natural lotions, creams or carrier oils, such as sweet almond, jojoba, sesame, hazelnut or grapeseed before applying them topically. In the bedroom: put a few drops on a tissue and place near your pillow at night. Lavender, marjoram or chamomile are relaxing. In the bath: add 8-10 drops of your favorite scent For skin care: Add 10-20 drops to 1 oz carrier oil, or unscented lotion. For dry skin - rose, neroli, geranium, palmarosa. For oily skin - lavender, carrot seed, cypress, bergamot, ylang ylang for aged skin - carrot seed and frankincense. At work: on a tissue or in a diffuser for focus try using rosemary, peppermint, basil, lemon or cardamom. To help you stay alert after lunch or while doing repetitive tasks use lemon and peppermint or grapefruit and rosemary.
