ETHIOPE EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS: A call for the release of the authentic results. Yours truly was on ground in ethiope east LGA area yesterday. I witnessed first hand how men and women old and young came out against all odds to cast their votes for the candidates of their choice. The people once again have shown their belief in democracy. They shunned monetary inducement, they stirred down government sponsored thugs and largely voted their chioce. In Eku town where i voted, the election was largely peaceful not because the government provided adequate security, but the strenght of party thugs across political parties neutralized themselves. But for a few disturbances in about 3units, the elections in Eku was successfully concluded at unit levels and results known to all. The opposition labour party swept all the units by wide margins. There are two wards in eku town. Ward 15 and 16. The presiding officer for ward 16 concluded the elections and declared results with the labour party councillorship candidate declared winner. However, the ward 15 presiding officer sensing the landslide nature of the opposition win in his ward left the collation center and could not be traced as at this morning. This is a call to the Delta state electoral commission and the government of Delta state to respect the wishes of our mothers, fathers, and youths and declare the results of the elections in eku ward 15 and in ethiope local government as a whole as reflected in the unit by unit results that is public knowledge. We will not accept a coup against the popular mandate of our people.
