ETNZ members. You may be aware that your Committee have been working for many years to develop training programmes for our industry. Recently ETNZ participated in a Government process called the “Targeted Review of Qualifications”, which has resulted in approval being granted for ETNZ to move to the ‘development stage’ of courses that we intend to become part of the NZQA framework. We are partnering with ‘Skills Active’, who are an Industry Training Organisation that have a good background knowledge of the Events Industry. Skills Active will be using their expertise to work with our Industry Experts (called Technical Advisors) to document what OUR Industry considers needs to be taught, and how OUR Industry decides tasks should be undertaken. BUT – WE NEED YOU !!! We need some Industry Experts to form several groups of ‘Technical Advisors’. We need a range of people for each discipline (as listed in the attachment), who are willing to enable Skills Active to put down on paper all of the things that are inside their head, which are important for the development of the Qualification. You wont need to write the Qualification (That’s what Skills Active are there for), but you do need to commit to one full day session as a group to work with Skills Active. You will also need to review documents over an approximate 3 month period that Skills Active will develop, and then participate in a review of the course in approximately 18 months time after the first group of trainees have participated in it. Whilst the terms of reference for the Technical Advisors have yet to be formally agreed, indications are that ETNZ will pay for any expenses such as travel costs, but we ask that you or your employer volunteer your time to participate in this process (ie you don’t get paid to do this). Further details and an application form can be found on the ETNZ website. etnz.org.nz
