EVENING MEAL! SUCCUMBING TO DESPERATION Gen 30: 27 And Laban - TopicsExpress

EVENING MEAL! SUCCUMBING TO DESPERATION Gen 30: 27 And Laban said to him, “Please stay, if I have found favor in your eyes, for I have learned by experience that the Lord has blessed me for your sake.” This month, we all must awaken to a number of truths. We must awaken to the fact that a lot of us have been too comfortable with crumbs when we have access to the whole loaf. God had showed Jacob a glimpse of the glorious future He had planned for him but like most Christians, Jacob decided to do things his way. Jacob was afraid of taking a risk and launching out in faith so he enslaved himself like many believers do today. He was clinging to ‘job security’ and depending on his salary. He acted desperate when there was no cause to be and became a slave when he was already master. Each time we forget who God has made us to be and the future He has planned for us, we act in desperation and end up losing something of value. Jacob worked so hard and so long that he did not realise that the years were flying past. For about twenty years, he remained shut out from all God had planned for him. He was the seed of Abraham and as such, he was already blessed (Gen 22:17) Laban recognized this and took advantage of it. Isn’t it ironic that sometimes others recognize the blessing upon our lives while we remain oblivious? Jacob had no reason to be desperate. His presence in Laban’s house brought about prosperity. But one day! One day he came to his senses and realized that his future was not dependent on his uncle or on the job he had. His uncle was not his source nor was the job; God was! I see someone coming to this realization today in Jesus’ name. God is our source and if we are going to experience the best of Him this month, we all must come to this realisation. PRAYER: I come against every spirit of desperation set to derail me in Jesus’ name. FURTHER READING: Gen 30:25-31:16
