EVIL GRAINS DESTROY THYROID GLAND I am no celebrity junkie, but I was in a hair salon waiting room yesterday and, oh well, I dived in for once and grabbed a magazine to entertain my eyes with its fancy schmancy images!!! Here we go again, evil gluten/grains following me everywhere I turn!!! The story of a Brooke Burke, who I learned further down my skimming of the article is a celebrity associated with the Dancing with the Stars television show, blah blah blah!!! (1) Suffered from Hashimotos thyroditis for over a decade; an autoimmune condition, meaning the immune system attacks the tissues of the thyroid gland, located in the neck, causing it swelling (inflammation) that often results in reduced function (hypothyroidism); managed with synthetic hormone replacement. (2) Progressed to thyroid cancer in 2012!!! She lost her important thyroid gland to surgery!!! Synthetic thyroid hormone replacement required for the rest of her life!!! (3) In her own words, doctors say that this a good kind of cancer to have.... My doctor did tell me that this is a happily ever after ending kind of thing!!! There are numerous studies that link gluten/grains to Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (Google to see for yourself and scourge my timeline for posts on the evils of grains)!!! All I can say is that she is not out of the woods as she is made to believe she is!!!
