EXCEPTIONAL LIFE DAILY DEVOTIONAL WEDNESDAY AUGUST 13TH GOD IS NOT IN EVERYTHING SUPERNATURAL - Pst Ose Imiemohon Acts 16:16-17 (New living translation) “One day as we were going down to the place of prayer, we met a demon-possessed slave girl. She was a fortune-teller who earned a lot of money for her masters. She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, and they have come to tell you how to be saved.” The slave girl that followed the apostles had accurate information about them. She spoke supernaturally about the apostles and the purpose of their mission. Though her statements were very accurate, the source of her knowledge was devilish. The precise nature of her statement was a bait to the undiscerning. True, the slave girl revealed what was beyond human intellect, but God was not behind it. The accuracy of any utterance does not make it Godly. Paul was able to see through the deceitful communication of the fortune teller. Can that be said about you as a child of God? Unfortunately, many in the body of Christ have been fooled by the dubious practice of “fortune teller preachers”. The source of an utterance is more important than the accuracy of the utterance. Fortune telling is not the same thing as godly prophecy. The former is a scam while the later edifies. The difference is clear. Paul warns us to be aware of lying preachers and crooked workers who pose as ministers of the gospel, but are fraudulent to the core. No wonder! Satan does it all the time, dressing up as a beautiful angel of light. So it shouldn’t surprise us when his servants masquerade as servants of God (see 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 Message Bible paraphrased). So discernment is very important concerning supernatural communication. Beloved, don’t be deceived. Fortune telling seeks to counterfeit the gift of the word of knowledge and the gift of the word of wisdom. Counterfeits exist to usurp the prominence of the original. Ascertain the source of an utterance before you open your heart to receive it. In other words, the accuracy of an utterance should not be the test for identifying the genuineness of a supernatural communication. Check out on the source of the person proclaiming the word. PRAYER Lord, help me to quickly detect fraudulent supernatural communication disguised as the real deal... Amen!
