EXPOSED! Corruption rampant at Lae City Council as workers go without pay since pay period ending 01st October 2014 An insider at the Lae City Council has revealed to Caught In The Act Papua New Guinea that there is widespread corruption at the Lae City Council since the side lining of the substantive City Manager Mr. Roy Kamen by Acting Provincial Administrator of Morobe Province Geoving Bilong. Mr. Bilong sidelined Roy Kamen and in his place appointed the Lae District Administrator Mr. Robin Calistus as Acting Lae City Council Manager. Soon after coming into office, Mr. Robin Calistus, together with the Lae City Council Director of Health Peter Wartovo corruptedly and in defiance of the Full Council Resolution, signed an agreement with businessman Luke Yawau for Luke Yawau to extend his management of the Eriku Public Toilet for 5 more years starting this year. The Lae City Council Full Council had resolved in its meeting not to extend its agreement with businessman Luke Yawau to manage the Eriku Public Toilet because Luke Yawau has never paid the Council ANY MONEY AT ALL from the gate takings it collected from users of the toilet and shower facility. Despite this, behind their backs, Peter Wartovo (a good friend of Luke Yawau from their young days) colluded with Robin Calistus and corruptly signed an extension of the agreement. Since the appointment of the Robin Calistus led team, managers aligned to the Provincial Administrator Geoving Bilong have all hired vehicles and are driving around in these vehicles. Eric Gurupa the Administration Manager has two hire cars under his care, although he has a council vehicle. Alex Gawi the Design Manager is driving a hire car even though he has a council issued vehicle. Health Manager Godfrey Worio is driving around in a hire car. Peter Wartovo the Health Director is driving around in a hire car. A junior officer is driving around in a hire car. Eric Gurupa the Administration Manager even had the audacity to use Council funds to repay his daughters loan with Linwah Finance. Now, the Council has no money to pay its employees. Council workers have not been played their last pay for pay period ending 01st October 2014 and looks set to continue. Power and water supply and telephone to the Council office has been cut by service providers. The insider has called for an investigation into the activities of the Robin Calistus led team in particular to investigate Eric Gurupa, Peter Wartovo, Alex Gawi. And also to investigate the Provincial Administrator Geoving Bilong.
