EXTREMELY Time Sensitive For an Asylum case – required before 10 days! We need to know what treatment a Palestinian client would face, if he were to be granted a visitor visa by the Egyptian Embassy in the UK, on arrival in Egypt and in Egypt if he were granted entry while he awaits for his residence permit to be renewed. Basically we ‘know’ the answer, but it is based on ‘general knowledge, not empirical examples. a) What treatment is to be expected on arrival at an Egyptian airport; in particular whether such a person (i.e. a Stateless Palestinian without a valid Egyptian residence permit but with a visitor visa to Egypt) face a real risk of arrest or detention? Further, if arrested and or detained, what would be the conditions of and treatment during arrest/detention? b) If he is allowed to enter Egypt, would he be at risk of arrest and detention and what treatment can be expected during the process of seeking to make an application for a residence permit whilst within Egypt? c) What is the likelihood of a residence permit being granted to a person such as our client and what would his position be if his residence permit was not renewed/granted? d) If he is granted a visitor visa, what period of time is a visit visa likely to be valid for? 2- Do you have any source /knowledge of recent detentions of Palestinians returning just as visitors and could you put us in touch with any of the individuals that you have personal knowledge of as we would like to take individual statements from them (if they are contactable and are happy to) Dr. Barbara E.
