Each year we try to take the team members out of their comfort - TopicsExpress

Each year we try to take the team members out of their comfort zones in order to accomplish new heights in their own personal training as well as maintain some of our team objectives. Todays announced challenges may or may not pertain to everyone as it would be impossible to come up with a plan that every single team member wanted to attempt or even be involved in. If you choose not to that is certainly okay and we encourage you to plan your own and give it your very best shot. If we can support that journey in any way of course we will do that. The 2014 challenge was a fantastic challenge and we saw a huge number of team members take it on in one fashion or another. 2015 is much more aggressive in terms of the amount of work it will take to complete some of the tasks. For a few team members one aspect of this will be a piece of cake. The challenge this year is a couple of combined tasks and you certainly can pick and choose the parts you wish to partake in or all of them. We are going to hold a weigh in on Tues January 5th at Deltona Middle School. If you cant not attend it is okay to send me your numbers so that I can record them. The weight you begin with is your barometer for the year. We are asking each participating team member to lose 2 pounds or more each month for a yearly total of no less than 24 pounds. Some may not want to lose 24 pounds and that is perfectly okay, this part only pertains to those members that do in fact desire to lose some weight this year. As you all are aware now with weight loss comes reduced inches, so those benefits will come with it. The first Tues of every month we will have the weigh in for recording purposes. The second part of the challenge is in keeping with one of our standard missions which is to use our fitness efforts to benefit others. Most if not all of our races benefit one charity or another in some way. The more races we enter the more fit we get, and the more money we divert to different causes and benefits. In this challenge we are asking that each participating team member enter 24 races or events in this calendar year. This is a fantastic way to remain active all year long while also doing the good things we strive for in our community. The third part of the challenge and absolutely the most demanding is that we are raising the mileage goal to 2,400 for the calendar year. This will be so challenging for just about anyone on this team. I know the struggles of 1,000, I know the dedication that took, and this will be so much more. Just like last year I would caution you to be very committed to this early in the year and not rest on the fact that you think you have time, the truth is you honestly do not. The only other stated goal will be a 1,000 miles. This is a huge goal and some of you now know the difficulty in reaching these lofty numbers. Once again we are on the honesty system and hope everyone is working toward getting healthy and not so consumed with the numbers that they feel they need to cheat. If this is not something your interested in then please feel very free to make your own challenges and please share them with the team, It would not surprise me at all if one or more members liked your idea and wanted to jump on that challenge with you. Here is my disclaimer: If you do not like this challenge or you do not wish to participate in it then by all means do not do so. I understand there is no way I could ever address everyone on this team with a blanket challenge. Instead of complaints come up with solutions. Make your plan the way you want to customize it and get it done your way. You could in fact be helping one or more members with your solutions. Some are fortunate and may not need to lose 24 or more pounds, I just know that I do so this is my solution. This plan just like most everything we do is not set in stone and modifications are encouraged if it helps you the individual to do something fun and challenging. I wish everyone the very best on whatever plans you come up with for the 2015 calendar. Dukes keep going! 24 pounds or more loss for the year 24 races or events for the year 2400 recorded miles in any form of exercise you desire for the year
