Earlier this year, many of you took part in a letter writing campaign organised by Julian Burnside. As part of the campaign, letters were penned to asylum seekers living on Manus Island and Nauru. Its been a long time coming, but this week weve heard of the first responses coming back to those who took part in the campaign. Heres a letter received by a GetUp member living in Forbes. It reads: Dear Kim, Hello. Thank you very much for sending letter. It gave me a lot of hope and I love Australians and our bad situation here in Manus Island is because of the new policy of the Federal Government of Australia and hope you can help and support us effectively. I am Iranian. My name is...I was born on 1986, July. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon. By the way, I received your letter six months later in October. Thank you a lot.
