Earlier today I had a interesting conversation with a total stranger that was of another race. He stated that he used to do government contracts with the military and lost his job due to cut backs. He had to move from his former residence to find a job after being unemployed for 8 months. Prior to that, he stated that he was led to believe in some preconceived notions of Blacks and other races didnt want anything out of life or were incapable of bettering themselves. He said that his former employment allowed him to be somewhat financially secure and he professed to be a Christian. He said that the people in his circle daily made racists comments and he admitted that he did it as well. But he said that he was seeking to know God and prayed to know Him better. So after praying for about a week, he said that God granted him the desires of his heart. He had no idea that Gods plan would cause Him to lose everything that he thought was important. He was unemployed for 8 months, uprooted him from his nice wholesome environment, being constantly harassed by Bill collectors, going hungry, caused a high amount of stress on his marriage and family. He applied for food stamps and unemployment, and it wasnt enough to maintain the lifestyle that they were accustomed to. It allowed him to feel economic discrimination and see the struggles of the people that he had come to despise. He said that one day that it hit him that God had to literally strip him of all that he was first and then he had to stop trying to have faith in the system and have faith in Him. He said that he stopped going to the unemployment office and gave God a week to show Him that He was a way maker. He said that he was just in a store and bumped into a guy and just started talking about Gods goodness. Being that he himself was going through, he realized that the blessing of waking up to see his family was a blessing within itself. He never let on that he was struggling. After 20 minutes or so, the stranger told him that he loved talking him because metal sharpens metal. He said that at the point, he revealed to the stranger of his current situation and that he and his family were operating off of faith at the moment and that he was trusting God. The stranger told him just to give him a call the next day. He called and he was given a new job that was close to his salary that he was previously making. He said that he and his new boss pray daily together at work as well as work well together with no negativity. He said that he received many new revelations after his experience: God is real, an understanding that no one else is no different than the next, treat people right, he received a big portion of humble pie, and trust in God in spite of. A little lengthier than my normal posts.
