Earlier today I was reading about the Black Arts Movement in Harlem which has influenced the Art World and definitely Black peoples involvement in The Art World. Well the origins of the Black Arts Movement was prompted by a art exhibition named, Harlem on My Mind (1969). Basically the exhibition was supposed to be racially sensitive and pro civil rights so to speak. The problem was the exhibition included no African (black people) artists for the were all Caucasian. This led me to think of New Orleans Black Art scene which is almost nonexistent in terms of Fine Arts. Hey, everyone has their comfort zones and I am not hating, but to protect our community, we must stop operating for so called money. There are more folk concerned with selling art (MOST) in a small circle yet are not on the Fine Arts scene. This is not being validity and integrity for most folk are in the commercial class. Let me stop this thought, they wont understand anyway.
