Early Holiday Plea and yes I am asking for your time, your money and a piece of your heart. Last week my former foster named Gabriel passed away due to Heart Worm treatment complications. We dont know why. He was given excellent care by his vet and given an abundance of love from us and MOST certainly his adopter. It happened and we just dont know why but we do know for sure that if Gabriels former owner had cared enough for him, he would have been receiving a monthly heart guard supplement (about the cost of four coffees) that he NEVER would have contracted heart worms...but that person did not care enough to see to his proper care. In honor of Gabriel, I am starting a fund raiser, small scale, through my friends, family and FaceBook friends. Its called Gabriels Heart, and this is what I want from you. I am being this bold because Gabriel was so tiny, so loving, playful and so forgiving of his maltreatment from his previous, breeder owners. If he had survived the treatments he would have had a wonderful life, as he so deserved. Those that know me, know that I would not ask for anything unless it was close to my own heart. But you also know I will give up anything for the same reason and this year I am donating as well as swallowing my pride and asking for your help. While you make your holiday list, please consider the following rescues for a $ 10.00 donation. More if you like and can, but $ 10.00 pays for one pill of heart guard. They are 501C non-profit so you can also write it off on your taxes. Its a win-win for the pups and you. If you do not want to donate money, then I ask that you bring a bag of food and/or canned food to your local shelter, perhaps some blankets, towels, pet shampoos, or even a supply of Heart guard medication that the shelters or rescues can donate to adopters to get their pets started on the path to good health. When you donate, either to a rescue on this list or of your own choosing or to a local shelter, please mention that your donation is in the name of Gabriels Heart. He deserves to be remembered.
