Early today I posted a article on Yates High school in Houston Texas, that had a educator using the word Hoe on the students( girls) which caused a uprising among moms of students and other people that heard about this word.So I thought I would look into the school, and this is what I found.Yates was established in 1826 as Yates colored High school. It has been a school of ups and downs. In 1987 105 female students were pregnant and 50 per cent were having a second pregnancies .The school has tried different things to change. In 2007 40 per cent of the school never made it past to seniors .Yates was being called a DropOut Factory. The thought was for the state to take it over or a private company.to run it.This did not happen. The basketball team was no1 rating in the USA.they drove up huge scores against other schools. But in 2@10 they ran into trouble with their pressing and trapping style and they were reported by other schools ,so they were dropped in ratings .Yates did have a required uniform ,but could apply for a waver to opt out.If you google the high school you can verify this information. Its a school in trouble for years,so I can see why a member of the educators in a moment of throwing of her hands could use that word.Lets hope we never have children that end of in a school with all these problems.
