He achieved a remarkable 9,530 career victories, including wins in the 1984 Kentucky Derby, three Belmont Stakes, and seven Breeders’ Cup races; his incredible list of major stakes victories also includes seven wins in the Santa Anita Derby and nine in the Hollywood Gold Cup.
