Early voting in Broward County starts today. By now, many of you are aware that Im running to replace the incumbent in Group 27 of the Broward County Circuit Court. With hope and change we can believe in, I set out to make a difference in the local judiciary. I am not a politician but a hard working father and attorney with over 30 years diverse experience. Reaching the pinnacle of my career, I set out to give back to a community that has provided for my family for so long. Running for judge has certainly opened my eyes. Throughout the last few months, I have met thousands of voters and many wonderful people throughout the four corners of Broward County. While many of you have openly supported me, some have also opposed me as is your right in this great nation of ours. Between old media and social media, much has been reported about the candidates in this race. Many of you are unaware of the fact that judicial candidates are prohibited from discussing politics and any legal issue that may come before the court. All along, I have told each of you - Google me - Google my opponent. Conduct your own research and make an informed decision when voting between now and August 26th. Running for judge is a reality for me - not reality based television. While some media outlets have made a mockery of the judiciary, others have been much more professional. In life, each of us will have an opportunity to go to court. Whether it be a speeding ticket, small claims action, divorce, probate, foreclosure, or criminal matter - you are more likely to meet a judge than any other elected official. It should personally offend an informed voter that this race has been referred to as reality television. Discounting years of professional reporting on any particular subject or any particular individual, decisions were made and endorsements were tendered. While opinions can be formed in a single meeting, years of professional reporting, investigations and alleged criminal misconduct cannot be ignored. While many people can say many things about John Contini, I have never been accused of slacking off on the job, ignoring my constituency, using my public office for personal benefit, alleged criminal misconduct, incompetence, and being undistinguished or underwhelming. When elected to the bench in Group 27 of the Broward County Circuit Court, it is my intent to give this my all. And unlike others that have been quoted in the media stating they can only work the cases on my desk, I intend to help others in the judiciary and make a difference.
